Join us as we worship together and serve our community. Each member brings their unique story and perspective, enriching our collective experience. Our services are primarily in English to accommodate our diverse congregation, ensuring that everyone feels at home. Come and be part of our journey of faith at St Francis Presbyterian Church.
A PLACE WHERE GOD ENABLES EVERYONE FOR HIS WORK;
NO ONE IS LEFT OUT IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE
At St Francis Presbyterian Church, we embrace DIVERSITY and foster a welcoming environment for everyone.
Our congregation, formed by individuals from various cultures and backgrounds, is a testament to our mission of unity in Christ.
Since our establishment, we have been passionate about sharing the love of Jesus and building a community that honors God's teachings.
We are a small, diverse group with a common faith in Jesus that gathers on Sundays for worship. We are fully inclusive, comprising members of different cultural, racial, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including brothers and sisters from Malawi, Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ruanda, and others. Whatever your culture, language, race, nationality or economic status, you are welcome to worship God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in unity with us. Our services are in English to cater for all nationalities, but home languages include English, Afrikaans, German, Dutch, isiZulu, isiXhosa, seSotho, seTswana, Shona, Timbuka, and others. Occupations are also wide-ranging: academics, engineers, teachers, lawyers, accountants, consular staff, municipal and government officials, domestic workers, gardeners, caregivers, administrators, managers, and retirees. Despite our differences, members are open and accepting of each other, showing mutual respect and concern. We are warm, friendly and informal with everyone participating freely, including the children. There's a spread of ages, but only a few teens, which makes us sad. We are multi-generational in approach, with friendships encouraged across the ages and many events planned for people of different ages to mingle and interact.
With a dedicated Leadership team and Minister, there is an exceptionally strong spiritual bond amongst all members, regardless location, age or personal circumstances.
THERE IS NO HIERARCHY!
Jesus is the head; we are the body.
Every member plays an equally important role as part of Christ's body. There are church leaders elected by the congregation to serve as ordained elders for spiritual oversight, pastoral care and governance as well as a stewardship board for the temporal management of resources including property, equipment, finances, and staff.
Our minister, Rev Alan is a teaching Elder among governing Elders. He chairs the Session meetings as its Moderator and serves in an ad hoc capacity on the Stewardship Board. Members are allocated to a district under the care of an Elder to ensure effective pastoral care and to build a sense of community.
Stewardship looks at the following aspects:
• Property: Management, repairs, maintenance, and upgrading of buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Finances: Responsible management and reliable audited records of all income and expenditure.
• Risk management: Appropriate legal agreements and insurance to ensure effective risk management as required.
• Governance: Proper structures and procedures according to our UPCSA Manual of Faith and Order. There is regular representative attendance at the quarterly meetings of Tshwane Presbytery and compliance with decisions taken at this level, including regular payment of assessments.
